Madressa Annual Day 2011
Madressa exams were held in November and students, as per every year, showed great understanding of the knowledge relayed to them all year long.
To recognise their efforts, a recognition ceremony was held on 17th December 2011. As we were still in the days of mourning, we decided to hold a recognition ceremony and preceded the event by Madressa Annual majlis.
The event started by Tilawat-e-Quran and translation by Rameez Naqvi (Damishq Class). This was followed by Madressa Annual report presentation by Madressa Principal Dr Qamar Abbas. He reported that the year saw events like last year’s Annual day with Annual lecture from Brother Abd Ar-Rauf Shokoya (Presenter Ahlulbayt TV), Imam Ali AS birthday, Non-pupil day with Madressa minimum standards agreement, Madressa representation at BBC Essex by Sister Akila Manji and Annual Sports day with attendance from Mr Simon Burns (MP for Chelmsford and Health Minister) and Mrs Dawn Baker (Lawford Mead School’s Headteacher). He paid gratitude to students, teachers, Jamaat and local support for successful Madressa running. He outlined that next year will be concentrating on beliefs and their true meanings and classes will be named after Usool-e-din.
His speech was followed by Sister Amina Inloes (Lecturer at Islamic College and a regular contributor at Ahlulbayt TV). She made and interactive speech on Peer pressure and following your beliefs in a secular society. Her speech was followed by questions from students. She was then presented with Madressa annual lecture award.
Her speech was followed by Jamaat President Brother Sajjad Manji who acknowledged madressa’s progress over last 4 years. Students were then recognised with certificates and awards. The day finished with delicious lunch for all attendees.
Madressa will now commence proceedings for year 2012 on 21st January 2012
