Members of Essex Jamaat volunteered in numbers when the call came out for the community to donate blood to the National Blood Service. The event at a local primary school in Chelmsford was organised by Dr Qamar Abbas. Dr Tipu Naqvi provided medical advice as required by the members.
Specially designed and printed tee shirts, along with scarves and badges showing the “whoishussain.org” campaign, were worn to show to the wider community the reason for the members’ act in commemoration of Arba’een.
Seventeen members of Essex Jamaat braved the December cold and donated blood in remembrance of the sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and Shuhada-e-Karbala (AS).
InshAllah, the community hopes to make this a regular event in forthcoming years and requests further donors to come forward for future events.
The National Blood Service is always on the lookout for new volunteers. Visit www.blood.co.uk or call 0300 123 23 23 for further details on eligibility to donate, dates and venues etc.
